How to use hibiscus?

Today we have a bit of an herbal special for you. The big news in our product range is hibiscus, which can be used to brighten ginger and red tones as well as for regeneration. We will tell you how to do so in this article.

WHY IBISCUS?

Hibiscus was already being applied on hair by our ancestors, due to its acidic pH. It is considered a miracle plant in India – it fights dandruff, aging, graying, thinning and hair loss. It contains a lot of minerals, vitamins and other active substances, which can be cleverly used for various purposes, especially for brightening shades and nourishing hair. In addition, it has slightly firming effects, so it is ideal in combination with our Sea Salt Spray to create waves.

VOONO hibiscus powder is free of artificial coloring, flavors, sterilizers, synthetic solvents, pesticides, insecticides and other chemicals.

Tip for oily hair: Hibiscus has a gentle drying effect, which can really help if your hair gets oily quickly. To make the most of it, simply leave a little of the hibiscus in your hair after rinsing — no need to wash it out completely.

COMBINATION WITH HENNA

Thanks to its acidic pH and active substances, hibiscus can brighten the orange and red shades of VOONO henna. What the final shade will look like always depends on the base color of your hair. Hibiscus is also recommended for dyeing gray hair (the first phase of Copper dyeing), because henna molecules adhere better to the hair fiber when using hibiscus.

Some of the beneficial substances that hibiscus contains: quercetin, kaempferol, apigeninidin, pelargonidin, cyanine, cyanidin, taraxerol acetate, cyclopeptide alkaloids, ß-sitosterol, oxalic acid, citric acid, B vitamins (thiamine, riboflavin, niacin), vitamin C, carcinoma and fatty acids, as well as calcium, iron, phosphorus, manganese, selenium, potassium.

TONER FROM HIBISCUS

Mix your own hibiscus toner to tint and suppress unwanted yellow tones.

  • cold hibiscus macerate (approx. 12 hours)
  • mix and form a fine paste, then apply to your hair for at least 20 minutes
  • rinse thoroughly

HIBISCUS REGENERATIVE BALM

For all hair shades. Regenerates, restores hair elasticity, vitality and shine.

  • pour hot water over hibiscus powder until the consistency of a thick paste / slurry is reached
  • apply to your hair and leave on for 30 minutes up to an hour
  • rinse thoroughly with shampoo

Attention: On very light blonde shades, this may leave a warm tint.

NATURAL BEIGE TINT

For blondes (light redheads) and soft toning:

  • 30% Cassia Obovata, 30% Dark Brown, 30% Amla and 10% Indigo
  • the more Indigo you add, the darker the shade will be
  • pour a strong macerate from hibiscus over the mixture and let stand for 4 hours
  • then pour over with water at a temperature of 50 degrees ° C and form a paste, apply to your hair for 30 minutes
  • rinse with water only afterwards

HIBISCUS POTION

To regenerate the scalp, especially if a large amount of dandruff or mold is present, you can make a hibiscus potion for the scalp.

  • macerate the hibiscus in almond or sesame oil
  • use this potion to massage the scalp
  • massage for a few minutes and then let the potion take effect for 15 minutes
  • rinse with natural hair cosmetics afterwards

If you don’t want to add oil to your hair (i.e. your hair tends to be oily), just mix the hibiscus with cold water and apply it on your hair as a hair treatment.
